Dear Colleagues, Today LOC of GISIDEAS informed me the list of 27 oversea participants (Please see attached bellow list 1) who have already the *code number* for VISA and the list of 03 oversea participants (Please see attached bellow list 2) who will receive the *code number* by 10th August 2002. Dear All, A discrepency in the rates for suite room was kindly pointed out by one of the members of the GIS-IDEAS ML. I have confirmed with Thuy Tien Hotel and the correct rates for the suite rooms are as below; Suite room (with double bed): for single occupancy 45$ Suite room (with double bed): for double occupancy 55$ Sorry for my earlier mistake. Dear All, With a little over a month left for the GIS-IDEAS Symposium, preparation here are in full-swing. Thuy Tien Hotel which will also be the conference venue has recently informed us of the special rates for rooms for GIS-IDEAS pariticipants. The prices vary according to the type of rooms as listed below. Superior room (single): 30$ Superior room (share for two people): 20$/person Delux room (single): 38$ Delux room (share for two people): 25$/person Suite room (with double bed): 45$ The Management of Thuy Tien has also informed us the the Room rates are inclusive of breakfast, service charges and 10% Value added tax. [Gisideas] Update on GIS-IDEAS Symposium

Dear All, Little over a month is left before the GIS-IDEAS Symposium is held from in Hanoi 25-28 September, 2002. I would like to express my personal thanks to all the participants for submitting very interesting papers to the Symposium. The Proceeding volume for GIS-IDEAS (about 60 full-papers covering 350 pages) has been just finalized and dispatched to the printers. The Proceeding will be made available to the participants at the Symposium venue. The GIS-IDEAS web-site has also been updated and is available at http://gisws.media.osaka-cu.ac.jp/gisideas/ The program for the GIS-IDEAS has also been almost finalized and can be viewed (also downloaded) for the above mentioned web-site. The program that is presently made available is subject to some minor changes. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of GIS-IDEAS 2002 has recently decided that *No Registration Fee* will be charged to participants and who have pre-registered for the GIS-IDEAS Symposium. LOC is also arranging for field trip during the GIS-IDEAS Symposium.
