Gentle reminder about FOSS4G ASIA 2017 http://www.foss4g-asia.org/2017/ Contributions in terms of Paper Presentations, Holding Workshops, or sponsoring the event is appreciated. best ----- Dear Sir/ Madam We are happy to inform you that OSGeo-India is organising FOSS4G ASIA 2017 Conference during January 26-29, 2017 at Hyderabad, India. FOSS4G-ASIA 2017 Conference on Free and Open Source Solutions for Geoinformatics (FOSS4G) that are planned to foster the development and promote the widespread use of Open Source Geospatial Technologies including support for software development and publicly available Geo-data. The proposed theme of the Conference is âEmpowering communities through open geospatial innovation". It will be organised by OSGeo-India and hosted by IIIT-Hyderabad, India. Open Source Geospatial Foundation of India (OSGeo-India) is a not-for-profit Society working with Governments, Academia, Research Institutions and Industry to provide support and help in building up of open source tools and applications related to the field of geospatial technologies and its allied sciences in India. The Society and its activities are tuned towards achieving its goals, both in the context of software development, e-governance, localization (Indian language support) and building of awareness & outreach of such software systems and publicly available geodata with a pan-India focus. Your participation with respect to the same is appreciated. Hi Rajan and All, Please plan a FOSS4G-Asia 2016 with special session for SAARC. Great to hear about training program at ECIL organized by IIITH. Regarding the NGC session, maybe 1) Introduction to FOSS4G technology and Geo4All initiative 2) FOSS4G-India Activity Report 3) FOSS4G-Sri Lanka Acticity Report 4) FOSS4G at AIT 5) Municipal GIS initiatives in India 6) ??? with 30 minutes for each presenter could be a good idea. We could also distribute the OSGeo-Live DVD [1] to participants. It would great if the special session at NGC helps to get FOSS4G activities in Nepal kickstarted. The mailing list created for FOSS4G-Asia is still usable and maybe some others have suggestions too. I forward this mail to the list too.
